U3 Architectural Modelling | Instructor: Michael Jemtrud

This exercise roots in technical experimentation through multiple technologies of making to develop an architectural tower.

Swooping from the compact earth, the Ascending Tower extends from the cliff’s edge to expose itself to the power of height and permit ascenders to participate in its rising vulnerability. The solid half of the model is casted in a soft mold. This triggered exploration of the structural qualities of plaster as well as the precision of the material expressed in the textures on the spine. The pattern of the woven half is digitally designed using grasshopper and later woven through a set of laser cut plexiglass sheets.
